Summary:
To provide secretarial support services and aide functions to the Physical Medicine department.
Population served based on scope of services in the department Essential Responsibilities :
Function as a receptionist when greeting patients.
Answers phone for Physical Medicine department in a professional and timely manner.
Gathers accurate and complete demographic/financial information necessary to register patients, assemble patient charts and collect copays ensuring confidentiality of patient information.
Communicates and updates all information in medical record pertaining to patient's financial obligations to individual therapy sites, clinicians and billing office to ensure all therapy treatments are authorized.
This includes but not limited to copayments, deductibles, self-pay rates, in-and-out of network responsibilities, referrals, authorizations and other information as needed.
Supports clinical staff with patient care.
Maintains and orders necessary departmental supplies.
Prepares patient and treatment rooms for appropriate treatment.
Faxes reports to physician and insurer in a timely manner.
Performs registration for all patients.
Troubleshoots for all patient services with regards to prescriptions, referrals and insurance coverage questions.
